The Origin Story
Picking up the story his grandfather started
The Ogier family has lived on fruit orchards in central France for generations. Primarily fruit farmers who sold their freshly-grown wares to local markets, they briefly branched out into alcohol distilling about eighty years ago. Recently, Raphaël Ogier, the newest owner of the Ogier fruit business, decided to take another shot at what his grandfather had attempted.
The most local of production methods
Using fruits grown in his own orchards, Raphaël was able to start producing a series of incredibly fresh, vivacious liqueurs. Because none of the fruits have to travel more than 10 kilometres before being distilled, the flavours remain as vivid and ripe as when the fruits were picked from the trees.
Combatting nature with nature
Raphaël’s experience has taught him to work with nature, instead of against it. Eschewing chemical insecticides, he has learned to control problematic insect populations by introducing other, predator insects. These keep the plants healthy and protect the local environment, with no need for poisons or chemicals. The Ogier pears and apricots are all grown completely naturally and are amongst the best in France.
The secret sauce
Small, hand-made batches
A deep respect for the soil
With complete control over every step of production, the Ogier Distillery is able to produce gorgeously authentic liqueurs that showcase the very essence of the fruits that went into them. A deep understanding and respect for the land that produces the fruit trees is the baseline of Raphaël Ogier’s business model. By working with nature, he manages to coax the very best quality from his plants, which translates to beautifully rich, luxuriously fruity liqueurs and eaux-de-vie.
