What's in it
- Wheat Alcohol
With a light, delicate flavour, La Philosophe is a versatile spirit, perfect as a mixer in a variety of cocktails. The Moscow Mule is an excellent example of this, bringing out the citrus and pepper notes of the vodka, without ever overpowering or clashing with the cocktail. To make your own, fill a copper mug with ice, and pour over 60ml of La Philosophe Vodka, and 15ml of fresh squeezed lime juice. Top it off with ginger beer, garnish with a twist of lime, and allow the ice to chill everything before drinking.Back to shop

When you taste La Philosophe, you’ll experience a fresh, citrussy smoothness, with a delicate roundness on the tongue. The finish is long and peppery.
Cognac is located in the west of France, in the Charente region. For centuries it has been famous for producing its eponymous cognacs, along with other wines and spirits. Vodka, however, is a fairly new arrival to the region! Dotted with castles and dashed with vineyards, this ancient city shows no sign of tiring its reputation as a spirit-producing hub.
A French twist
La Philosophe is made using wheat from local French fields and locally-sourced spring water, in order to reduce its carbon footprint. The name and process both represent the founder, Alexandre's philosophical perspective on vodka in which the four basic elements are brought together: earth, represented by the wheat; fire, by the heat of the still; air, by the evaporation process; and water, by the liquid product. The result is an innovative spirit with a unique French twist, finished off by adding fresh local spring water and a hint of lemon.
A dash of personality
La Philosophe is distilled with evaporation plates, meaning that the vodka is distilled repeatedly and continuously. This helps purify the distillate and create a smooth, fresh flavour. It is not cold-filtered, and no sweeteners are added - but there is just one dash of citrus fruit that is added right before the distillate is brought down to 40%. That little touch of citrus gives a zing of character to the final product.
The Brains Behind It
A young businessman
In 2014, at just 23 years of age, Alexandre Rizzotto launched his own vodka brand, La Philosophe. Growing up in Normandy, he dreamed of becoming an entrepreneur or opening his own bar. This dream came true sooner than expected when he teamed up with his friend who was an expert in distilling and spirit production. Since then, La Philosophe has become a popular French brand that has garnered a lot of attention, especially from the young crowd at many trendy bars and restaurants.More on the Brand
