Cognac, France
Fanny Fougerat is located in the heart of the Cognac region, in an area known as the Borderies. This zone is in the north of Cognac, and is the smallest and most prestigious of the six cognac “crus”. All cognac must come from one of these crus, in order to receive the appellation. A beautiful, green region, dotted with old estates, castles, and vineyards, Cognac has been producing fine spirits for hundreds of years.
Springtime for Fanny Fourgerat
XO Iris Poivré or “Peppered Iris” is the first creation from Fanny Fourgerat - an unconventional cognac named after its floral flavours and peppery bite. Created from 100% Ugni Blanc grapes from Fanny Fougerat’s Borderies estate, it’s packed with charisma and light. The breeziness of its character is immediately apparent, as it delivers a precise, gloriously-balanced flavour palate, full of style and springtime flavours.
Home-grown ingredients
The grapes that go into XO Iris Poivré don’t have to travel very far - they are distilled right on the estate where the vines grow. After being double-distilled, XO Iris Poivré is then aged in new barrels - a technique that allows the cognac grape flavours to evolve and breathe, without taking in too many woody notes. The end product is sophisticated, stylish, and fun.
The Brains Behind It
Like father, like daughter
As the fourth generation of her family to distill cognac, Fanny Fougerat didn’t just take over the family business - she reinvented it. Her philosophy is to create single cru works of art, rather than blended creations. Using all the knowledge passed down to her through the family line, she created a line of cognacs that are stylish, artistic, and original, paying tribute to the land she grew up on and the vines that have grown there for generations.
